In their latest pre-season outing, FC Halifax Town found themselves on the receiving end of a 4-3 defeat against Avro. Despite showing flashes of promise, the Shaymen struggled to maintain control throughout the game.
The match began with a swift start for the hosts as an Avro player capitalized on a defensive error after just 16 minutes. Sam Johnson was unable to keep out the tap-in, giving the visitors an early lead.
FC Halifax Town had their chances to equalize but were thwarted by the Avro goalkeeper. Arian Allen’s powerful effort from the left side was saved, and when Trialist D attempted a follow-up, his shot hit the post before being smothered by the ‘keeper.
Town finally found the back of the net after 28 minutes through Josh Hmami. His corner was flicked on at the near post by Amari Morgan-Smith and redirected into the goal by an Avro player, bringing the score to 1-1.
The hosts quickly retook the lead just five minutes later with a well-executed passing move down the left-hand side. The striker finished well from just behind the penalty spot, putting the score at 2-1 in favor of Avro.
FC Halifax Town responded with a goal on 36 minutes when Hmami’s cross found his own head, resulting in a flicked header that looped over the goalkeeper to level the match at 2-2.
Avro struck back early in the second half, scoring from a tidy finish low to Johnson's left. The Shaymen again fought their way back into the game with Trialist F cutting inside from the left-hand side and slotting it past the keeper to make it 3-2.
Once more, Avro retook the lead on 57 minutes when they received a low ball into the box that was tucked away on the stretch, securing the final score of 4-3 for the hosts.
