FC Halifax Town have signed defender Max Bardell following his release by Buxton. The 23-year-old spent time in the academies at Huddersfield Town and Manchester City before joining Derby County in 2019.
What happened?
Max Bardell signed his first professional deal with the Rams in 2021 and an extension in 2023, and had a spell on loan with AFC Fylde in the National League in 2024-25, making 27 appearances.
Why it matters for FC Halifax Town
He was released by Derby in the summer of 2025 and joined Buxton, where he made 40 league appearances last term, as FC Halifax Town finished 8th in the National League with 70 points, 20 wins, 10 draws, and 16 losses from 46 games.
What comes next?
With the new season not yet under way, FC Halifax Town are preparing to improve on their recent form, which includes a 2-game winning run, and a last result of Woking 0-1 FC Halifax Town on 2026-04-25, as they look to close the 38-point gap behind leaders York, having scored 69 goals and conceded 66, with a goal difference of +3.
