FC Halifax Town produced a dominant attacking display as they defeated Derby County U21s 6-2, with six different moments of quality helping the Shaymen secure a convincing victory. The team started brightly and immediately put Derby under pressure, winning a corner inside the opening minute. Town then began to pull away. Allen produced one of the highlights of the afternoon in the 53rd minute, cutting inside from the left and beating two defenders before firing a spectacular effort from outside the box into the top-right corner to make it 4-2. Halifax continued to make changes, with Will Hugill and Zak Gilsenan introduced before a further triple substitution saw David Kawa, Owen Bray and Connor Douglas enter the action. The Shaymen extended their advantage in the 70th minute. Following a free-kick just outside the Derby box, Gilsenan delivered towards the back post, where Max Bardell rose highest to head home and make it 5-2. Just two minutes later, Halifax added a sixth. Derby’s defence afforded Owen Bray too much space outside the box, and he punished them with a low-driven finish that flew into the bottom corner. The Shaymen remained firmly in control for the remainder of the game, comfortably shutting down Derby’s attacks and seeing out an impressive 6-2 victory.
