FC Halifax Town is in the news with a player departure and a look at the club's current National League campaign. The Shaymen sit 17th in the table with six points from six matches, having scored nine goals and conceded ten.

Torquay United announced the signing of Angelo Cappello, a former FC Halifax Town winger, this week. According to the Torquay United website, the 24-year-old Belize international joined following his departure from The Shay. Cappello, a left-footed attacker, made nearly 150 appearances for Halifax after joining in the summer of 2022.

He was part of the Halifax squad that won the 2023 FA Trophy at Wembley and helped the team reach the National League play-offs in the 2024/25 season. Cappello, who came through the Sheffield United academy, also has nine senior caps for Belize, scoring his first international goal in September 2023.

FC Halifax Town suffered a 1-0 away defeat to Aldershot Town on September 5th. This result contributed to the team's current league position of 17th and a recent form guide reading LWLWL. The loss leaves Halifax ten points behind early league leaders Boreham Wood.

The club's goal difference now stands at minus one after six games.

The Shaymen face a busy schedule in the coming weeks, according to the fixture list published by Vavel. Their next match is at home against AFC Hornchurch on September 12th. This is followed by an away trip to face Wealdstone on September 15th.

Further fixtures include a home game against Sutton United on September 19th and a visit to Worthing on September 26th. Fans can track the complete fixtures schedule for the 2026/27 campaign on our site.

In the most recent meeting between the sides, Hartlepool United manager Lee Clark made five changes to his starting lineup. Striker Jordan Hugill was among those brought into the team for the league clash. This match, which took place on September 1st, ended in a 1-0 home victory for FC Halifax Town.

The win at The Shay provided two of Halifax's six points this season. The team's next opportunity to add to that total comes against AFC Hornchurch this Friday.
