Pete Wild is being linked with a return to management as the new head coach of Hartlepool United. The former FC Halifax Town boss, who has been out of work since leaving Tranmere Rovers at the end of last season, is reportedly close to taking over at the National League club.
Reporter Robbie Stelling, who covers Hartlepool, said: "Hartlepool are closing in on the appointment of Wild as their new head coach." The vacancy opened after Lee Clark resigned from the role on September 19.
Wild managed FC Halifax Town from 2019 to 2022, guiding the Shaymen to two play-off appearances during his tenure. He has since managed Barrow, Fleetwood and Tranmere in League Two. Hartlepool United currently sit 21st in the National League with nine points from 11 games.
FC Halifax Town, who Wild led to those play-off campaigns, are currently 15th in the same division with 14 points from their opening 11 matches. Their recent form reads DLDWW, with a 1-1 draw against Boston United last time out. The club's standings position reflects a solid start as they look to build on the foundation Wild helped establish. The team's next fixture is a home match against Rochdale, scheduled to kick off at 15:00. In their last outing, Halifax scored their goal in the 87th minute to secure the draw with Boston United.
