FC Halifax Town suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Worthing on Saturday after playing the entire second half with ten men. A debut red card for Dylan Crowe proved key as Jordan Young's first goal for the hosts secured the three points.

Joe Cook opened the scoring for Worthing in the seventh minute, returning from injury to head home. Will Hugill equalised for Halifax just nine minutes later, netting his second league goal of the season. The visitors' momentum was halted before the break when Jordan Young flicked in a Joe Cook corner to restore Worthing's lead.

Crowe sees red on debut

Halifax's task became significantly harder at half-time. Substitute Dylan Crowe, making his first appearance for the club since joining the squad, was sent off following a challenge on fellow debutant Emmerson Sutton. Manager Adam Hinshelwood had to reorganise his side to play the entire second period a man down.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Halifax created chances. Corey Adjety-Brew had a high effort for Worthing before Young's goal, while Taylor Seymour was involved in the build-up to Hugill's strike at the other end. The ten men could not find a second equaliser, however, with the team's attacking stats showing they managed only one shot on target in the second half.

Hinshelwood praised the impact of Worthing's returning defender. "It’s massive to have him back and that’s not being disrespectful to Harry Ransom who’s come in and been excellent in Joe’s absence," he said. The manager also highlighted Young's contribution, adding, "His delivery today was unbelievable."

The result leaves FC Halifax Town 14th in the National League standings with 14 points from 11 games. Their recent form reads two wins, two draws and one defeat from the last five outings. They now turn their attention to a trip to face 23rd-placed Solihull Moors next Saturday in their next fixtures assignment, a match where they will be hoping to improve upon a record of scoring only 12 goals in their opening 11 league games.
