FC Halifax Town's next opponents, Southend United, have seen three loan players return to their parent clubs ahead of the sides' meeting on 24 October. The departures of Ryan Battrum, Finley Woodham, and Ephraim Yeboah were confirmed by the Blues this week, with manager Kieron Dyer explaining the decisions.

Southend, who sit third in the National League table, will face a Halifax side currently 10th with 20 points from 13 games. The Shaymen are in strong form with three consecutive wins, including a 4-2 victory over Stoke City U21 last time out.

Manager explains decisions

Kieron Dyer said the club would have liked to keep one of the loanees longer. "Two of those decisions were on us," the Southend boss stated. He revealed that right-back Ryan Battrum, on loan from West Ham, wanted more regular football and was influenced by the form of Southend's Vontae Daley-Campbell.

Limited contributions

Goalkeeper Finley Woodham, who was on loan from Charlton Athletic, was an unused substitute three times for Southend. Striker Ephraim Yeboah, from Bristol City, made a single appearance from the bench. Their returns trim Southend's squad options as they prepare for a busy period in the fixtures.

Dyer acknowledged Battrum's desire for minutes, noting Daley-Campbell is one booking away from a suspension. The manager said he understood the player's perspective, adding, "I totally get it." With these changes confirmed, attention turns to the National League clash at Roots Hall. Halifax Town will travel to face their high-flying opponents next Saturday, looking to extend their winning run and climb the standings.
